Since September 1, 2021, Texas allows adults aged 21 or older who can lawfully possess a firearm to carry a handgun without a license, either concealed or in a holster. Licenses are still issued statewide by the Department of Public Safety. Carry is prohibited in schools, courthouses, polling places, secured airport areas, correctional facilities, and establishments deriving more than half their income from on-site alcohol sales. Property owners may post signs under Penal Code 30.06 and 30.07 to restrict carry.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department sets white-tailed deer seasons by county. Archery-only season runs October 3 to November 6, 2026. The general season in the North Zone, which includes Bexar County, runs November 7, 2026 to January 3, 2027. The special late season in the North Zone is January 4 to 17, 2027.
